Sansa Clip freezing on loading firmware

Recently my Clip has starting having an issue where it frequently freezes on the black loading firmware screen. It usually loads correctly after anywhere from 2-8 force shutdowns, but it's starting to get frustrating. Any help?

I'd guess that your player is failing, but you can try these steps and maybe you'll get lucky:

1)  Update to the latest build
2)  Check the file system for errors

Would also be interesting to know if anything caused this to happen or if it just randomly started happening.
