johnieappel:
I have spent 2 days on this, I've read every thread and I think I need someone to walk my thru changing something in 'Terminal ' on my iMAC. Here is what I get:

Why are you using terminal? We provide a graphical installer. There are instructions in the manual if you need help using it.
johnieappel:
I'm not using terminal, I have followed the manual with no luck. I have downloaded the rockbox utility & tried running it.It installs everything but the bootloader.. I've tried the patch but get the above error. I was able to extract the rockbox-ipodvideo.zip folder to the ipod but nothing shows up when I open the ipod. The ipod is formatted correctly - I did this by plugging it into a windows PC with itunes. I am doing everything else on an imac. In these forums it has been mentioned you need to go into terminal and try using sudo or by logging in as root. Unfortunately thats where my ability stops and I cannot find any clear instructions on how to continue using sudo or by logging in as root. (I dont know what that means) I'm logged in as the administrator on my computer. I did a search for 'graphical installer' and did not come up with that term in the pdf instructions.
johnieappel:
I found the graphical install section on here - I've done exactly what it said with the same results, I get a dialog box that says 'could not open ipod:permission denied' . It says this 3 times in the dialog box. If I uncheck 'bootloader' it installs everything else fine.

What version of Windows / macOS are you using? On current versions you need to use sudo. On Windows it should just work. However, you need to make sure Itunes is not running (make sure it's not running in the background!), otherwise it will block access to the Ipod.
