IPod classic 6g keeps refreshing database everytime.

(1/1)

sigrokBlack:
Hi,
I've installed rockbox 160628 on my IPod classic without any problems. After I transferred my ~5400 songs to it and I refreshed the database I wanted to listen to some tunes but then this happend: When I hit Track for example in Database browser it shows a popup "Searching... {a number counting up} found (PLAY/PAUSE to abort)".
So it counts up to arround 5400 and then it shows my songs. But that process takes 10 to 20 seconds which I think is very long, am I able to workaround that refreshing every time?

Have you any ideas?

Frankenpod:
Mine has always done that (maybe not quite as long as 20 seconds, but definitely a noticeable time, maybe 5 or more seconds?).

It's not rebuilding the database, its just reading it, I think.

However, I have always assumed its because the aging hardware is creaking slightly with the number of tracks I have in the database (approx 70,000).  Doesn't sound right if its happening with far fewer tracks.  Is it a hard-disk pod?  If so, could the drive be having problems?

sigrokBlack:
Hi,
yeah it's a harddrive (120Gb). I thought about replacing it with a sd card. But when this loading time is affected cause of a broken Hdd how can I test the Hdd?. Is there a benchmark tool or another tool for checking the harddisks condition?

Regards Joshua

It's not your hard disk, rather it's this bug:

sigrokBlack:
thank you good to know that there are other people having the same problem. But it makes me sad that the bug is older than a year and haven’t been fixed till now.  :-\

Regards Joshua
