Gigabeat - CF Card upgrade ---- I/O error issue

(1/1)

coacharnold:
Hi Folks,

upgraded the second of my gigabeats to a cf card/hardrive adaptor.  I'm running an sd card in it exactly the same way I have been using my other for years.
 upgrade's perfect,  working perfect.

When I try to copy a large group of files over to it, the copy fails halfway through with an in/out error.

I took it apart and  did a full long format of the 64g card last night,  re-did the system folders today and copied some music on to it.  Everything went smooth. put the whole thing back in the cfcard reader and put the gigabeat back together ... working perfect

THEN i tried to copy a big group of files over and AGAIN about halfway through CRASH I/O error.

Anyone have any experience like this?  think it's maybe an issue with the card?

I still have my 256GB SDXC upgrade that I use, and file copies have not been a copying issue (yet).  Mostly AAC's so nothing too big, but on occasion I will put some FLAC files on it.   I do generally use the dock for file copies, so be aware of that.

I have a Tarkan SD adapter btw.  Only issue I've had with this setup is making sure that the bootloader files are copied early on.  If I try to override them after 128GB+ is filled up, the bootloader fails.  Rockbox files btw, can be overridden with no issues, it's just the bootloader files that have this issue (they don't really change anyway, unless you plan on compiling them yourself).

If you haven't already done so, perhaps try another USB cable, another USB port or try copying while in bootloader USB mode vs. Rockbox USB mode?
