Thanks guys! I now tend to agree - mainly because flash chip (or who?) eats off a large amount of flash from 4GB, and because the wear level algorithm (that would do similar job as re-allocations, or re-maps in hard disk drives) seems simple to me, so they probably did it. Expensive SD cards implement "true" leveling, over used - recorded, but in mint condition sectors, too. But for most purposes it's not needed, and simpler algorithm can be used.

Terrible dome buttons. Could you tell, what can go wrong with them that would require a re-flow station? I read from a nearby thread that a button stops clicking - may be the dome gets squashed. This can probably be fixed by simply replacing the dome with another one (from an old cell phone keyboard), with a duct-tape.
