New here and new to Rockbox......
Olddaddy:
So, I am a total noob, both to this forum and to Rockbox. I bought a 256gb IPod from a very nice and helpful guy, but I am afraid I am too dumb to use it.....I installed EAC on my laptop to load about 165 CDs onto the laptop and hopefully onto the IPod. I think I have the loading onto the laptop figured out, but from there I am lost. I am looking for a very simple, very basic "how to" guide if one exists. I freely admit I am lost and know next to nothing about what I am trying to do. Can anyone get me started? Once I "see it done" I can likely continue along on my own. Many thanks!
saratoga:
Figure out what iPod you have and then check the instructions in the manual.

Feels weird to be following up someone who actually works on Rockbox, but as a user I would add...
You don't make clear whether the problem is actually installing Rockbox at all, or if you have Rockbox up and running but haven't gotten music onto it.
The second is simple, just connect, and use drag-and-drop (assuming you have ripped the CDs in one of the many formats Rockbox supports).
For the first, you do need to read the manual. And as well as what ipod model is, it also depends on what modfied storage it has (256gb clearly isn't a hard drive). If it's an SSD, or an SDXC of the wrong brand, Rockbox might be difficult to get working.
Olddaddy:
OK, more info. The IPod is a 5.5 MA446LL, 30gb now 256gb, SD Iflash card, Wolfson DAC, Rockbox is installed. I started reading the manual last night for the color iPod because I didn't see a 5.5 section. If drag and drop from my laptop works all is well. I think I can manage that.GX

The iPod 5/5.5G is the iPod Video, you'll find it in our manuals as such.
Incidentally, did you get scammed(*) into paying stupid amounts of money for the "Hi-Fi" "audiophile" conversion? I ask this because you mention the Wolfson DAC specifically as though it is something every other iPod Video in the world doesn't have.
It's pure snake oil, but, live and learn I guess...something something, hindsight.
(*)Edit: May I ask how much you spent on this? I ask because I've seen some truly ridiculous prices for this type of setup and you could've stuck this together yourself for under $200 USD, including the purchase price of the iPod itself.
Edit 2: I realize this comment didn't end up being particularly productive, and I have a feeling that if you read this you'll probably be rather annoyed, either at yourself, charlatan resellers, or both but hopefully this comment goes some ways towards making sure others in the community dont imbibe the same snake oil in the future.
If you do feel scammed or hard done by I'm genuinely sorry for bringing it to your attention.
