Random irremovable duplicates

(1/1)

Chalkbrood:
So I had some songs that were for some reason duplicated in the Database. When checking the actually folders on my computer I only saw one copy of the duplicated songs. So, as an example, on Anais Mitchell's Hadestown, the rockboxed Toshiba Gigabeat would say I had two copies of Wedding Song and only one copy of the rest of the songs despite what my computer was telling me.
So I removed the albums that the duplicated songs were on in their entirety and initialized and updated the database and then strangely the albums were still on the rockboxed Gigabeat. Except instead of the full albums it was only the duplicated songs. And they were still duplicated. So it's not like the songs were hiding somewhere else on the device, I very specifically deleted the folder that displayed at least one copy of the song and there were still two on the rockboxed device, even tho when I searched the hard drive of the machine on my computer it said there weren't any files titled Wedding Song or whatever.
What's up with that?

cereal_killer:
Try deleting all *.tcd files in the .rockbox folder and rebuild the database from scratch. This helped me with some troubles regarding the database.

Chalkbrood:
unfortunately this produced no results

saratoga:
If you pick a pair of duplicates, long select them, and then look at the path, do they refer to the exact same location?

Chalkbrood:
as it turns out I'm a big idiot and disktidy just wasn't set up to remove things from a couple specific recycling bin directories
all cool now
