clip zip bricked?
« on: April 28, 2016, 10:52:50 AM »
hi,
sorry for my bad english

i'm the happy owner of a clip zip since 2 years with rockbox 3.13. Yesterday i wanted to try the latest build dev (18fecd9) to see the battery improvements. So i did the update (just rockbox not boatloader). But i have a problem now, i have try to record my voice with the built in mic and rockbox crash (white screen), so i wanted to go back to 3.13 but i can't write anything on the internal storage. under windows or linux when try to delete or copy files its looks ok but when i restart rockbox, the files i have deleted (ex:music) reappear and the files i added are not here (ex:clpzV010121.bin). it looks like that i can't change anything, i have try to format/fix disk error but it doesn't work.
Beside that, the player runs well and the battery is good.
Anyone can help me to go back to 3.13 please, i use the mic for my work.

Thanks
Vincent

If you reboot into the Sandisk firmware (hold left while powering on) does USB work normally?

When player off - try hold select (middle button) and connect it to usb. Then try check disk for errors.
If it not help - attach dmesg output after this try.

dmesg in linux show more useful information (write protection, usb mode and errors). So if you can - try do this in linux.

Yes you can browse to a folder on the SD card, long select it, and then choose "set as recording directory" in the context menu.

i will try. what is the command line? fsck?

yes, you can change the directory, but in my case none of the change i do in the settings are saved. after a reboot it goes back at the state before the first crash mentioned in my first post

here's the result on linux :

- whith msc mode (power off + select button) player is not detected (fdisk -l) and thee computer freeze, so i can't run fsck (it works on windows btw)
- whith the sansa firmware (power off + rewind) player is detected

fdisk -l

Just type 'dmesg' in terminal. You also can redirect output of command to file: dmesg > dmesg.txt
