Sansa Clip+ RockBox fuzzy blue and yellow malfunction!
(1/1)
Tom1978:
Hi,
Just tried to install and use RockBox for the first time using the automated installer, maybe I got something wrong, but it seems to have knackered my Clip+ which has worked fine for several years using the original SanDisk firmware.
Everything seemed to install fine, I followed the instructions on the installer with the Clip+ connected via USB. When I unplugged after installation, it took a minute or two to finish updating the firmware. Then when I turned it back on, I get:
1. A very quick glimpse of a screnn with lots of text/code showing for literally a couple of milliseconds
2. The RockBox graphic in blue, with a message over the logo saying "scanning disc" and Ver. 3.13 in the top of the screen in yellow text
3. Shortly after that, it changes to a glitchy mess of yellow and blue pixels
Pressing the off button briefly causes the player to cycle through the above again. Pressing and holding off does turn the player off.
Turning back on again normally causes a repeat of the above. Booting with the sandisk firmware causes the "refreshing your media" screen to appear, and then once the bar has reached the right hand side (only a couple of seconds) it reboots automatically, back into the sandisk mode, but the second time the "refreshing media screen stays on - basically it seems to freeze.
I've tried connecting to my laptop via USB. When in sansa mode (with the refreshing media screen) nothing happens, it's basically not recognised. When in the 'crashed' rockbox mode, I get a windows 10 pop-up message saying something about my USB device has malfunctioned and is no longer recognised. So I have not been able to try and uninstall the rockbox firmware, at least not using the Rockbox utility programme.
Any help gratefully recieved!
Thanks
Tom
Mihail Zenkov:
When player off - try hold select (middle button) and connect it to usb. Then try check disk for errors.

Many thanks, that seems to have fixed it, though still getting problems (have started a new thread as its a different error, hope that is ok)
