Manual for iBasso DX90 for 1st-time Rockbox user
« on: April 12, 2016, 12:30:21 PM »
Hi:  I'm a newbie & just successfully installed Rockbox on the iBasso DX90.  I opened it up & have no clue what I am seeing or supposed to do.

I am good with manuals, so I went to the Rockbox site & did not see the ability to download a manual dedicated to the DX90.  2 questions:

1)  Would anyone be able to point me to a link where I can get the specific DX90 manual; and
2)  Alternatively, if it doesn't exist, is there a manual which would be "on point" generally for the DX90 with its control configuration.

Thanks for any feedback.  Once I am up & running I hope to be an active contributor to the forum.

The iBasso ports are pretty new, so we don't have documentation put together for them.

You can use the manual for almost any other device though.  Aside from the button configuration and installation directions, almost everything will be the same.

Thanks for the reply.  Is there a very similar DAP that has the DX90's physical characteristics (L/R buttons, no up & down buttons & a touchscreen) which would be on point?

Except for the left/ right buttons, probably the Cowon D2, it has a touchscreen and the same screen dimensions.

Thanks for the tips!  One more question: from what I can gather, the only operative controls on the DC besides the 3 big buttons is the upper left-hand corner of the screen.  No other parts of the screen seem to be functional, and the upper L/U corner basically functions only to go to the previous screen.  Is that accurate or am I missing something?

I ask only because the D2 seems to have much more functionality in the different screen sections.

Thanks again for any feedback on this.

This probably relates to General Settings>Display>LCD Settings>Touchscreen Settings>Touchscreen Mode.

You get all the options in 3x3 Grid mode, but lose being able to press menu items etc.

For people like me with big fingers, 3x3 is much more usable.

Thanks very much Nick.  Not sure I understand when you say you lose the ability to select Menu items in 3X3.

In "Absolute Point" mode you can select individual items on the screen much like a smartphone etc.

In 3x3 grid mode the sections of the screen behave more like cursor buttons;
