clip+ error message wont start up

player will not start or boot.
sometimes just rockbox start screen, wont react , only after you hold the power button for some 30 seconds
sometimes: "PANIC - ROOT"  on the display
after some time says: "PLUG USB CABLE"
once plugged in pc says:
"bootloader usb mode"
then windows says it needs formatted, when formatting says media cannot be formatted

Does the sandisk firmware boot?  If so, you can try formatting in that.
