[Sansa Clip v2] - Battery Status (RESOLVED)
« on: March 27, 2016, 04:43:21 PM »
Hi

I'm not sure if this is a bug or whether Rockbox's battery management is better than Sandisk. Having had my Sansa Clip on charge for approx two hours, it is reporting the battery as 94% (or icon, one pixel away from full). When I boot into Sandisk's firmware, it is reported (graphically) as full.

It is possible that the battery is loosing charge now (quite old) but thought I would mention.

:)

What are you mentioning?

Whether Rockbox is not detecting the capacity of my battery properly (as Sandisk reports full) or Rockbox's battery management offers better detection.

If there are utilities to report this, I could try those as my battery may be failing.

If you've discharged it for 2 hours, the battery is not fully charged.

I don't know how battery indicator in the Sandisk firmware works.  Is it an icon or something?  Probably it increments at 10 or 20% per step.

Has been charging for over 2 hours so should be full.

It is an icon but doesn't show the percent available like Rockbox. It has always showed as full on the Sandisk firmware and Rockbox has always been one pixel away from full (never full). Sandisk does seem to display 1-2 pixel steps.

Oh charged for 2 hours.  Its probably just your battery aging and not hitting 100% voltage anymore.
