OK, I "think" this is a hardware problem, hence posting it here.
Been having troubles when starting up with a seemingly frozen gray bar stating "loading", after the Rockbox interface loads, after about a minute or 2 it fully loads.
Today, I can't get past Rockbox at the top, the version at the bottom and nothing else. I've booted into the original firmware, which works, and uninstalled the bootloader and S/W. Rebooted, which it did into the original firmware as expected. Then re-installed 3.1 (?) bootloader and S/W. Same problem. Rebooted into the original and tried to run a chkdsk and it just stared at me at 0%.
I love this sucker, any ideas?

Reformatted it and, as I can not see it as a HD, copied over the backup of .rockbox and it boots and runs DANDY - BUT, it's in multimedia mode when connected via USB - how do I get it to HD? Can't copy anything other than that.
If this is not supposed to be here now, please tell me which forum to put it in.

As I can't delete the post: after copying the .rockbox over (apparently the bootloader WAS still there), and rebooting 5-10 times, then booting into the original F/W and getting a drive letter, I could re-install Rockbox cleanly, and MY BABY HAS COME BACK TO ME!
Not being aware of that 16 meg partition and recovery (did this without the Sandisk Rocovery Tool as I can't find it anywhere), it would have made sense earlier.
