So I just added music to my ipod classic 5th gen but if I select a song it just goes through all the songs in this directory and then stops.
Anyone any suggestions on how to solve this?

What type of file were you trying to play?

Then you have a screwed up or incomplete install of rockbox.

I'd check the disk for file system corruption and then install a new build of rockbox.
