Just wanted to say Thank You!

I really just wanted to say Thank You So Much, Rockbox Team!


After more than 5 years of almost constant use and a change of batteries, my old Sony NWZ Walkman was developing a terribly bad contact which only got worse and could barely get fixed. So I decided it was time to get a new MP3-player.

After thorough research, the iPod classic seemed to suit my needs the best (good battery life & lots of storage). I asked my big brother if he recommended the iPod classic ('160 GB Late 2009') he bought years ago and he told me I could have his because he just streamed music on his phone anyway (kids these days ;) ). It was going to be my first product from Apple.

Excited I plugged it in and copied over all the folders containing tons of podcasts and audio books from my old mp3-players and ... it was a complete mess. Turns out the iPad completely ignores folder structures. It's useless to me like that.  :'(

Then it hit me: Maybe I can put some custom software on it! And that's how I found Rockbox! It took some fiddling, but I got it now running like a charm! I can finally use my iPad!


TL;DR version: Rockbox changed my iPad classic from useless to useful!

Just dropping by to say a heartfelt thank you to the team. I just resurrected my 6 years old ipod classic. I replaced the hard drive with two 128GB SD cards, and now I have a killer 256GB rockboxed ipod! Congratulations and thank you and the emcore team. You rock!

Whoa, that's pretty ingenious! I was thinking about getting an SSD once my hard drive fails (also it's kinda noisy), but that seems cheaper and better!
