Database problem
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:56:59 PM »
I have a big problem!

Device: Sansa Fuze v1
Rockbox: Latest dev build

I just got a new and larger microSD card for my Fuze. I transfered the music to the card, put it in the Fuze and ran in to a well known problem: The database couldn't initialize - the screen was stuck at "Building database...153 found (PREV for return)".

Oh well, I figured it was some mp3 metadata causing a problem, so I removed the SD and booted back up in Rockbox.

With no SD card in the Fuze the database gave the exact same error ("Building database...153 found"etc.). Okay, must be some stray files in the internal memory, I'll just do a system wipe/uninstall and reinstall both rockbox and original firmware...

After the succesful and clean reinstallation with absolutely no music on the device, I try to open the database - I get the same error except now it says "Building database...0 found" and goes absolutely nowhere.

Okay, maybe the device doesn't like there to be no music files on it, so I transfer two mp3s with no problematic tags (no cover art, just Album, Artist, Track name, track number). I try to initialize the database: Same error. "Building database...0 found"

I am able to browse the files menu and open the tracks and they play fine, but the database just doesn't load... Even after a clean install.

What can I do? I am panicking - I use my Fuze for all my home music listening and don't want to live without it.

Have you checked for file system errors on the microSD-card and the internal memory?
And have you specified where the database should look for files using the database settings?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, I have scanned and checked both memory-slots using command prompt (CHKDSK /F). No errors.
I have also specified my only two music directories in the settings. I have also tried only one of them.
