SD Card Problems With Rockboxed Sansa Clip+

(1/1)

ursulavasey-graham:
Hello, everyone.  This is my first post here, so please be gentle with me.

Hubby and I have both bought an 8GB Sandisk Sansa Clip+, and we have both Rockboxed them.  We have 128GB SD cards to put our music on the players, but the players aren't reading the cards to add/play the music.  What format do the cards need to be in, to be read by the Sandisk players, and how do we format them to the relevant format?  We have tried EX-Fat, which didn't work.  We then tried to format them to FAT32, but the cards won't format to that, as the option is not available.  I understand that is a Windows restriction.  Is there any way to move forwards on this, please?

Frankenpod:
Am not sure (there might be some other issue involved), but its possible you need to reformat them to FAT32.  To do that with windows you need to download and install a suitable formatting utility.  You could try searching for a program called AOMEI (which is what I use - its free, or at least there is a free version).  I would bet there are other formatting programs out there.

Thanks Frankenpod.  I sorted it out in the end.  It did need formatting to FAT32, but it was difficult to find a program that would format such a large card to do this.  I found one in the end, and I am copying the music to my formatted card as I write this message.  The program I found is this one:
