Rockbox won't shut down
« on: December 05, 2015, 12:49:06 PM »
Just replaced the 80gb HDD in my iPOd Video 5.5 with the Tarkan Dual (Quomox128bg & PNY64gb) giving me a whopping 178gb !
Plays back fine. Only trouble is Rockbox won't shut down. The iPod does shut down for a couple of seconds then switches itself back on.     Any ideas, anyone ?

Is the Ipod connected to a power supply?

No.

I CAN shut down but it means going back into iTunes which is a pain. I have a couple of converted 5th Gens & they all work a treat - it's MUST be something to do with the Tarkan Dual (do you think?)

What do you mean by going back to iTunes?

My problem at the moment is that I long press 'play&pause' the iPod shuts down then 3 seconds later switches itself on again.

So now, when immediately the iPod goes off I flick the hold button to 'on' & after about 7/8 seconds the iPod changes into Apple iTunes mode then I can shut down as normal. To switch back to Rockbox I press select than reboot & I'm back in Rockbox mode.

You mean the Apple firmware then, not iTunes.  That makes though since it's not actually possible to power off the player in the Apple firmware.  It just turns the screen off but leaves the player still running in sleep mode.

Yes, I mean the Apple firmware, sorry.   Ah so...are you saying I'm not really shutting down & that the battery will still be draining ?

Yes, it is still draining, although slowly.

Thanks for the tip.... You've no idea why it switches back on then ?   Is it a Tarkan/SCXC Card side effect ?
