Sansa Clip+ "Stroke" After Year of Use
« on: October 14, 2015, 03:48:24 PM »
Hey all!

I'd been using my Sansa Clip+ with RockBox 3.13 for quite a while until once while I was jogging the music suddenly stopped.

If I remember correctly:
- The display looked frozen, showing as if the track is on play, with the counter not moving.
- I kept the off button pushed for a while until it shut down.
- When I restarted it, there was a message like "insert USB cable".
- I turned it off again and it wouldn't turn on.

Then later when I attached it to my mac I got the message along the lines of PANIC MOUNT:0 bt PC 0x(about 9 characters)

Now sometimes I turn it on and get the Rockbox menu but it says there's no more battery and it shuts down.
When I connect it to my mac, I actually get it recognized for maybe a minute (which was good to save some files I wanted) but then I get the message as if I disconnected the USB without proper ejecting, while it is still connected and doesn't respond anymore. I can repeat this cycle every once in a while... but how do I get the device recognized for long enough to format it, if that's the right thing to do? And do I use the RB program to do that?

Any suggestions would be great, I tried finding a solution on this forum for at least a week before posting because I didn't want to flood it.

Thanks!

First thing I would do hardwarewise is to crack the case open and feel if something is overheating. Like with my Clip when I resolder the li-ion battery pack (look for my topic).
