Clip Zip "frozen on the boot screen"

(1/1)

apoth:
Hello, first time posting

I'm looking at a used Sansa Clip Zip right now, and the listing describes it as "frozen on the boot screen".
Would this be fixable by loading rockbox to it? Or is this a common problem that can be fixed with some tinkering?
I'm alright with taking it apart, but I'd like to know if it's fixable or if it'll just be a waste of some money.

Thanks!

The situation described would suggest that loading Rockbox onto it is an impossibility.

In order to install Rockbox on this, you need to OF (original firmware) to be able to boot, so as to get access to the internal storage volume. Without being able to do so...well, you get the idea, I'm sure.

Secondarily, why even take the risk, when there are so many working second hand and refurbished devices available?
