Rockbox skipping tracks
« on: September 24, 2015, 08:39:52 AM »
I have had rockbox installed on my Sansa Clip+ for a while now, and recently it has started skipping tracks about 30 sec- 1 min into the song. This occurs when playing from the database or from the files menu. I tried to boot into the sansa firmware to see if the issue is rockbox specific, but no luck (even though I've head success doing this before). The screen remains black, and after attempting to boot in the sansa firmware, I have to reset (hold the power button down for ~30 sec) before I can boot back into rockbox.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled rockbox, and this hasn't fixed the issue. I've also run a disk check on the device. No luck. And I've wiped all my music files and copied them back again from the original source with no success. Plus I can't boot into the sansa firmware to see if this solves the issue!!

Any advice on anything to try to:
 1. Stop my files from skipping
2. Booting into the sansa firmware.

Thanks!

Ok, so I'd like to see if rockbox is the culprit here and would like to boot in the original sansa firmware. Only problem (as described in the previous post) is that holding left while turning the power on does not turn the player on AT ALL!!! I've held both buttons for up to 3 minutes. After trying to boot in the sansa firmware, I am not able to boot into rockbox by just pressing the power button - I have to reset the player by holding the power button for 30 seconds-1 minute and then boot up as normal.

I've tried uninstalling the rockbox bootloader, but have gotten a message stating that the only way to do this is to update the original firmware. Which I can't do, because I need to boot into the sansa firmware for this to happen.

I've tried reformatting the disk with no success. Any suggestions on how to boot into the original sansa firmware???? I've had no problems with this until recently...

Just so I can be totally clear on what you're doing...

Are you holding the left button, and then pressing power to boot?
Or are you pressing power, and then pressing the left button after the fact?

The latter is the correct flow for booting the OF. Reading the manual, I can see how this could be interpreted as being largely ambiguous.

Saint-

I've now tried both with the same result - player doesn't turn on. I'll hold both buttons for up to a few minutes, then the player will not turn on via the power button alone. I'll have to reset by holding the power button for a minute before the player will turn back on.

Is there any way to remove the bootloader that does not require a sansa firmware update?? The player is virtually unusable at the moment.

Thought so. Hmmm. My player may have been damaged at some point. Everytime I boot up rockbox now, I get this error:

Undefined instruction
pc:0000003C sp:2FFFFFFFF
bt end

Aye. I've uninstalled and reinstalled rockbox to no avail.
