Files display correctly but don't play
« on: August 22, 2015, 07:39:44 PM »
I copy a folder of flac files to either internal or external memory. The files display correctly under the Files option, but when I select one of them to play, the cursor shows zero seconds, and there is no audio. Plays correctly with standard Sansa Firmware, plays correctly with another folder copied to external mSDHC, and flac file transferred to root plays correctly.
A directory path to one of the non-playing files is:
"N:\Music\Haydn - Piano Sonatas (Buchbinder)\Haydn - Piano Sonata 1 in G major - 1 - Allegro.flac"

Post a link to one of the files that doesn't play and I'll take a look at it.

Thanks for responding. Additional testing shows that Rockbox chokes on the cover.jpg in the folder and then refuses to play audio files. I don't really care if Rockbox can't display the cover for whatever reason, but it would be nice if it took a stab at the audio files, particularly since Sansa standard firmware is able to cope with the cover just fine and does play the audio files. Cover.jpg is about 7MB and can be found here:

Thanks for your help,

Probably the device runs out of RAM trying to decode a file that large.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. Is there any way for Rockbox to display an error, recover, and still be able to play audio files in the folder? Otherwise, users aren't going to have a clue why their audio files aren't playing. They'll think it is a problem with the audio files...
