The future of Rockbox for Sansa Users?
« on: August 01, 2015, 12:20:13 PM »
Today, my Sansa Clip Zip died.

I am looking for a replacement and no stores in the UK sell Sansa and online Clip Zip is not cheap as there are no more new models and I'm not buying a used model.

Sansa have discontinued all models except for Jam and Sport. I've seen requests for support for Sport since last year and there's been no news. Clip+ has no screen so no album art, and Jam looks similar. The only viable option is Sport.

So with Clip Zip and Fuze discontinued. What is the future for Rockbox with Sansa users?

Thank you for reading.

I would not expect support for newer Sandisk devices, at least not soon. If you really want to stick with Sandisk devices, I would suggest checking back in a year or two to see what happens.

Yeah I guess. I just know Sandisk players are 100% safe bet, plus they're cheap. I don't know about other brands and to go through the pro's vs cons when I've been with Sandisk for so many years now. There's no going back after Sandisk. It's so cheap and cheerful and perfect vs a £200 ipod. just.lol.

I found a place that sells new Clip +. It's not as sexy as a Zip, Sport or Fuze but it will do the job and it's Rockbox compatible.

Thanks for replying. :)

Clip Zip / Fuze / Sport etc have a multimedia screen, Clip + has not.

I hope Rockbox survives because flipping through mp3s on a phone app just isn't the same.
