Volume Question
« on: July 31, 2015, 02:25:27 PM »
Hi,
My question is: Is there a way for example if I have a quite album that ends, and I use for it -0db. And I want some warning, maybe something with crossfeed, so when I start another album, it won't be too loud?

Thanks in advance,
I have RockBoxed clip+, and it was bothering me for a while, maybe because -0db and -20db are similar in the UI

You can use replaygain, which adjusts all songs so they have approximately the same volume.

Thanks,
Great feature to discover,
I'll just need sometime to add gain tags to the files that don't have them.
Unfortunately amplifying the quiet album with software resulted in bad quality.
Thanks for the reply and information again.

You may be aware of this, but trying to amplify volume digitally almost never works because modern music is already peak normalized.  Instead replaygain (usually) lowers the volume of loud music, which does the same thing but prevents distortion.

ty
I think I have some albums untagged for replay gain,
It makes sense that making the peaks lower preserves the quality,
I just have one album, that's maybe because hi bass needs to be listened at high volume,
All my other library is fine.
ty again,
And RB is great. :)
