Sansa Clip Zip slow boot...and getting slower.

(1/1)

Mohawk:
I have a Sansa Clip Zip that has been 'Boxed for well over a year, now.  Using Boot 4.0/RB 3.13.

Over the past two weeks, this thing has been slowing down when booting up.  The Rockbox logo will pop up.  Boot 4.0 will show at the bottom, then it will change to ver. 3.13, like it should.  Then, instead of the main menu coming up, only the stop logo, battery indicator, and time will appear at the top of the screen.  Then it stops there, sometimes as long as 5 minutes.  It isn't dead because when I press a button, the screen lights up.  Also, when I press the resume button during this time, the music will resume when boot up is complete.

Normally, bootup only takes about a second for me.

I've error checked the player, and my card.  I've reinstalled Roxbox also.  It helped, boot up went from 5 minutes to two, but that's still slow.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?  Any ideas?

Mihail Zenkov:
First try latest rockbox dev build  - 3.13 too old.
If not help - try disable database and dircache:
settings > general settings > database > auto update > off
settings > general settings > system > dircache > off

Mohawk:
I error checked my player one more time.
I've re-installed the bootloader, and I installed the latest dev. version.
Boot time has gone up to close to 10 minutes!

I think I'm going to completely un-install Rockbox, and re-install it.  I will also try the above settings (when the darn thing starts) first, and see if there's any improvement.  Although, I know my database is not currently set for auto update.

It's got me puzzled, because anytime this happened before, an error check of the player and my card would be all I need to get it going properly again.

Mohawk:
I have no idea what caused my issues, but I fixed it with a complete un-install.

My first attempt at the new install didn't work; I had the exact same issue.

The second time, I deleted the .rockbox folder after the un-install.  Now, everything is back to normal.  So, something left over in the .rockbox folder was causing my issues.
