How to get songs from playlist to microSD card?

(1/1)

dptalbot:
Hi,

I have a playlist with 5489 songs from my library of 12,000 plus songs that I want to get onto my Sansa e200 Rockbox 32GB microSD card.
Windows media player doesn't recognise the Sansa or the microSD card in either MSC or MTP mode.
I can get my computer to recognise them, but that doesn't help.
It is very frustrating.

How does everyone else do it?

Thanks for any help.
Davoid.

Hi all,

I am answering myself.

To get around this problem I am using software called Amok Playlist Copy.
It lets you load a playlist and then gives you options on how to copy those files to a device.
I chose "Advanced Copy" - "Copy and keep original folder structure".
It also creates a playlist file on the device, which I will copy to the Rockbox Playlist folder.
Hopefully keeping the original folder structure will mean the songs will play correctly.
I first tried it with the "Copy Files from Playlist" option which just puts the files in one folder.
I tried playing the playlist and it didn't work correctly.

I hope this helps any Sansa e200 owners out there.

an update on above:

The playlist must be on the microSD card to work correctly.

I have loaded the playlist and will see how it goes.

This is a workaround I added a few years ago.  Its because the playlist you created probably has paths that don't specify which storage device the music is on.  The workaround is that if the playlist doesn't specify which storage device to check, it will guess that its on the same storage as the playlist file.
