Rockboy
« on: July 01, 2006, 01:34:12 AM »
At risk of sounding like an idiot (yet again)...I can't find rockboy. Anywhere. On the Rockboy plugin page there doesn't seem to be a download link, and nowhere does there seem to be one. So...where can I find it?

Because all plugins are included. What made you think you needed to download it?
Did you even try the instructions on the PluginRockboy page to use it, to see whether you already had it?

Oh god...I'm going to go off and quietly hang myself.

It works as a viewer so simply click on .gb or .gbc files to launch them. It does not show up in the "Browse Plugins" list.

It's hardly a big deal, the question gets asked a lot.

I honestly meant "What made you think you needed to download it?" because somehow it's not clear enough that everything is included, so it'd be nice to figure out a way to resolve this.

The main thing that threw me off was the fact that it wasn't listed in the plugin list. Perhaps if you either made Rockboy appear on the plugin list and display a message like: 'Just browse to your desired ROM and it will automatically play' or actually made a browser for Rockboy, it would make it clearer?

Thanks for clearing that up.

Oddly enough, Doom shows up in the plugin list, and people keep trying to click on Doom .wad files to play them, instead. It's kinda the opposite situation of Rockboy.

But yeah, I think it may need to be rethought how Rockboy is launched.

But still, rockboy rules. And its unfortunate that the idea will never extend to GBA, at least not with the H340.

None are included.  There are some sites where you can download homebrew, legal roms.  For commercial roms, you must own the cartridge and extract the image yourself.  Do not ask here where to download commercial roms.

You must use the File Browser to find the ROM file located relative to other folders. Simply locate the ROM file that you had placed on your HDD via drag and drop, and select the ROM file in order for Rockboy to initiate. As BigBambi already mentioned, please be aware that you must provide your own ROMS, via your own cartridges or homebrew games. Hope this helps.

If the Roms are in a Zip or rar or 7z or other type of file, you need to extract them. Rockboy can't read Roms in these archived files.

Another thing, Don't be afraid to ask stupid questions!
Everybody is a noob at one point, and if you don't ask questions, you don't learn. Heck, I'm still giving stupid questions to the boys at Ipod Linux!  :D
