Playing Rockbox on Gen6 through Connect2 ipod interface on Audi Concert
« on: June 01, 2015, 06:08:32 PM »
Evening All

Since loading Rockbox last night i have been baffled as to why when it is connected to the head unit, the ipod appeared to be playing on screen but no sound coming through the stereo

Ill start from the start.......

After loading the lastest Rockbox build, i was getting a ata error 2147483542

i then loaded this version on to my ipod https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b5xbw6cp4ikfxwn/jBMeapJhsP/rockbox-with-patches-a010b7cM-130217.zip (thanks to Hinafu http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=48562.0)

This sorted the ATA error but still no music from the USB

Ive just had a play with the stereo and this is what ive found

When you open rockbox from Emcore front page (the one with snow), keep your finger on the menu button whilst plugging in the USB, his will knock the ipod out of USB mode and boot in to charging mode... this will allow you to control your ipod whilst its plugged in

One quirk of the Connect2 ipod interface when using the audi concert is that the CDC number needs to be on CD no 1 in order to release the ipod for manual use (eg in charge mode and not full usb mode).... this is great in Apple firmware but with rockbox, i only appear to have 2 options, CD4 & CD14!!! (yes i know the original CD changer could only go up to 6!)

With the ipod now connected in charge or manual mode, start to play an audio file, if its like my setup, you wont hear any music.... simply press the skip track button on the head unit, sweet Rockbox & flac audio will be massaging your ears in the blink of an eye !!!!!

Hope this helps someone in future
