i ran as superuser, and input the command written.
i've attached what it says (cant copy/paste for some reason)
and the same *PANIC* screen on the player

Strange. Try again - check dmesg - you should have "[sdb] 7683072 512-byte logical blocks: (3.93 GB/3.66 GiB)" as in your post before. Check - player (no panic) and try format sdb. If sill no success - show what you have in dmesg after all.
