Duplicates in Playlist

Hello.  I have a directory of 1931 tracks that are all unique.  For some reason I am hear a duplicate here and there.  For example my current playlist has the exact title for playlist entry 698 and 720.  Again, I have 1931 unique tracks but these two numbers are the same track.  Any thoughts appreciated.  Thanks.

You mean you created a playlist from a directory and it contains duplicates that aren't in the directory?  Try saving it to the disk and look at the playlist to see what the duplicate files point to.

I have a directory of 1931 mp3 files.  When creating a playlist, I get 1931 tracks, but two are the same song and point to the same file despite only being in the directory one time.

Can you let me know the best way to post it?  Interestingly enough, I deleted three songs from the playlist and then reshuffled and now this track is not listed twice.  Is there a limit to the number of songs that you can have shuffled in a playlist?

You should be able to attach it directly to your post, but if not, you could put it in a pastebin.

Just saved my playlist and took a look at it in notepad.  I have 1931 songs in ipod\control\music.  All 1931 are mp3 files (256 and 320s).  The Rockbox playlist has 1931 tracks but there are duplicates all over the place.  A LOT of songs are repeated twice and thus a lot of songs are missing.  No apparent pattern.  What is causing this?  Any help appreciated.

A little more info --- I am running Rockbox on an iPod Video 5.5 with the latest development build.  I have tried deleting the .tcd files and rebuilding the database.  Songs do not appear duplicated in the database itself --- just when creating, or re-creating playlists.  This is when I see the duplicates.

Can you be so kind as to tell me if there are any particular steps to reproducing this behaviour, as I seem to be having trouble in doing so.

I have a few further questions, if you don't mind.

Does this affect both Files, and the Database?

When it fails, are the results repeatable or is each playlist iteration unique?

Are the duplicate entries randomly distributed?

This seems to impact my PLAYLIST.  There are 1931 mp3 files, but the duplicates are only seen when creating, or reshuffling a playlist.  The database itself has no duplicates.

It seems to be the same songs that are repeated. 

In my database, the duplicates in the PLAYLIST are all songs after the 1,000th one.  Song 1,001 is duplicated as are songs 1,003 1,019 etc.  Not really a pattern but all duplicates in the playlist are songs in the database after the 1,000th one.

Thanks for any help.  My full playlist is too large to attach, but I am attaching a portion where the duplication begins.

Where did you find that file you attached?  I don't think its even a valid m3u file.

This is a text version of the playlist taken directly from the Rockbox playlist folder.  I sorted the play list so it would be easier to identify the duplicates.  My entire .mu3 file is too large to post.

Since the duplicates begin with the 1,001st entry in the database, is there a setting set to 1,000 that is causing this?

I was suggesting that if I looked at the m3u file maybe I'd have an idea.  If you don't want me to, thats fine.  But then you are on your own.

I'd be happy to send the actual file, but it is too large to post.  I get an error when I attach it.  I felt a small piece was better than nothing.
