Database Initialize and Update via Computer?

Is there a way to initialize the db using computer (as opposed to Sansa Ciip + in my case) resources? Like a tool where you could do it on your computer, with your Clip+ or microsd card reader attached by usb? It would be nice, since doing the database initialize takes so long on the Clip+ itself (10% of a full battery charge, in my case, using the latest build as of 4/6/15). Thanks in advance for any responses.

Theres no tool to do that, but if its taking 10% of the battery on your player something is probably wrong.  Building the database usually only takes a few minutes.

Oh well, too bad. I have a full 64GB card, so maybe that's one reason it takes so long. The update option doesn't seem to work consistently, so I initialize each time.
