Fuze+ Freezing Issue

(1/1)

maxillius:
I'm having an issue with playback on my Fuze+ using the most recent Rockbox version as of 3/19/15.  It seems that every 8 to 12 tracks it freezes and won't begin playing normally again until after I've rebooted 3 to 5 times.  This has been an issue with a previous build from a year ago and with the stock firmware as well.  I actually replaced it with a Clip+ because of this issue.  I just wonder if it's a hardware problem that makes the Fuze+ unable to work properly and I should just give up hope on it.  I started using the Fuze+ again after I thought my Clip+ bricked but a database issue froze it with the display inactive. (I resolved that problem after the battery discharged.)

I searched the forums for a similar problem but it seems my issue is unique so it could actually be defective.  If it can be resolved I'd prefer to use the Fuze+ so all the work I went though hunting down album art for everything in my library won't have been in vain.

I have Fuze+ rockboxed for more than 3 years. And no problems that you describe occure. Also while OF was a real nightmare, Fuze+ was stable even with OF. I freezes sometimes or restarts, but seldomly (once a month or so). Generaly every electronic device fails from time to time....

I guess your player is defective in some way. What comes in my mind, it might help to reformat the internal memory. Maybe that some of developers of this port would have some idea, what else to try or how the reformat should be done.

PaulF:
I had a problem with my Fuze and thought it was power problem. I took it apart and was measuring the power when it started working. It turned out the power to the display was flaky because the little gold spring clip that provides power or ground(not sure which) to the display needed to be bent up a little bit to provide better contact.
