track skipping
« on: March 08, 2015, 05:10:52 PM »
hi, i was selecting a track from the 'files' folder to play while another track was playing and there was a gap of about 1,5 second till it started to play the selected track.
is there a way of removing this gap?

This may have been a culmination of several things, you don't mention what device you're using and the post is fairly sparse on details.

Such as:

Was this using the File Browser or the Database? Was dircache enabled or disabled? is it a disk based target or a NAND flash based target (NAND flash is considerably faster than disk based targets when it comes to waking the storage up and seeking and buffering a file)? Was the disk already spinning (This applies to disk based targets, if the disk is not already spun up there may be some delay while it does so)? Were we in the middle of a buffer refill at the time (While this shouldn't be noticeable, I can't offhand say that it wouldn't be either)? etc.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
