Sansa Clip Zip rockboxed: Sound settings / parametric equilizer: reset
(1/1)

Hi,
Is there any way to NOT reset the rockbox settings to
"factory defaults" but to reset all sound settings to
their defaults efficiently (...means not to enter the
context menu and pressing "reset" for each item?
Thank you very much in advance for any help!

You could open the config file on your PC and just delete any audio related settings you see.
mcc01:
Hi saratoga,
thanks for your reply! :)
...did I understand right: A missing config file lets
the electronic fall back to its defaults?
Best regards,
mcc
saratoga:
That would be the same as clearing all settings.

My advice would be to:
--- Quote --- - Backup your existing rockbox config.cfg (copy it to backup.cfg or so),
- Reset the config settings on the device (Settings - Manage Settings - Reset Settings),
- Create a "flat" EQ preset (Settings - Sound Settings - Equalizer - Save EQ Preset - then enter the path and name of the desired preset, which by default would entail appending "/flat.cfg" to the path presented by this option),
- Restore your config backup (Settings - Manage Settings - Browse .cfg Files - select your backup config)
--- End quote ---
And, we're done here.
Now, you will always have the option to revert to the default EQ settings in the future.
It would seem this was an error, I am sorry that this has inconvenienced you, please accept my apologies on behalf of the Rockbox team.
I will do what I can on my end to get the "default.cfg" EQ preset reinstated (we used to have an EQ preset that existed solely for this purpose), as it appears to have been erroneously removed when the other EQ presets were culled from our source tree (since they were wildly inefficient, made zero use of the full parametric nature of the Rockbox EQ and behaved exactly as a "dumb" multiband EQ would, and some users were tasking underpowered devices with these wildly inefficient presets and wondering why their devices performed poorly) so that in future you will be provided with a means to revert to the default configuration without having to do this song and dance manually.
I will notify you in this thread when binaries with this error resolved are available for public consumption.
