Vorbis playback issues on several months worth of iPod Mini 2nd gen builds

(1/1)

LambdaCalculus:
I am wondering if this is a well known bug with the builds for the 2nd gen iPod Mini, or if it's just an isolated issue.

I have been noticing that for several build versions now, playback of any Ogg Vorbis files is overlaid with what can best be described as a scrabbling, screechy, corrupt mess of noise. I can't give any solid dates or build versions as to when I've noticed the issue, but between 55f1d94-150224, which is the last build I ran on my Mini, and the current version, 079d7fb, the issue still remains. This issue stretches back for me by about 6-7 months.

For some odd reason, it's only happening to Vorbis files. MP3, FLAC, and any chiptune format I play work just fine.

These Vorbis files are the same files I use on my Sansa Clip Zip, which plays them without issue. VLC and Audacious are fine with them. My Nexus 4 is fine with them.

Two separate Minis show this very issue. Would any other iPod Mini owners like to chime in and share if they're having similar issues of any sort with Vorbis playback on their devices?

I don't think anything has changed in Vorbis for a long time.  Maybe the file system rework?

LambdaCalculus:
That could be a valid reason, but it's still confusing that only Vorbis is affected, but not other codecs (that I use, anyway).
