how to load playlists to clip zip from computer

(1/2) > >>

mike rowcosm:
I can't seem to figure out how to load saved playlists from my windows laptop on to my rockboxed sansa clip zip.  Renaming the files as m3u or m3u8 before transferring them hasn't helped.   I've been relying on the tedious method of creating the playlists manually on the player, and would appreciate any tips.

saratoga:
Without some detail, its not really possible to answer that question directly.

However, M3Us are just ordinary text files that contain a list of files to play.  If you're copying them over, and they don't work, then most likely the music they point to doesn't actually exist on the player.  Try looking at one and see if the folders its pointing to are where the playlist describes.

mike rowcosm:
The playlist folder from Windows media player has the saved playlists as '.wpl'.  When I change from 'playlist #1.wpl' to 'playlist #1.m3u' for instance, and load it to the clip zip, it shows up under Files on the player as 'playlist #1', but when selected it starts to play then abruptly stops.  From what I've read elsewhere in the Forum it seems like importing playlists to the clip zip is typically problematic, so i'm wondering if there's any solution at this point.

bluebrother:
This won't work at all. The wpl format saved by Windows Media Player is completely different than m3u. Renaming doesn't change the format.

mike rowcosm:
welp, I guess i'll just have to arrange my 23 playlists manually on the player (I even tried using the Sourceforge 'wpl to m3u converter' without success---once again, the playlist shows up on the player, but when I go to play it it starts then quits abruptly).  It's ok tho...rockbox firmware superiority is worth the hassle  :)
