iPod 4g always on hold
(1/1)
SukkoPera:
Hi,
this is not strictly Rockbox-related, but maybe someone can help me nevertheless: I have an iPod 4g U2 model (Grayscale display). If I disconnect the cable that goes to the headphone jack/hold button switch board, the player is always on hold. Is this normal? I am asking because on newer iPod models the behavior is the opposite: disconnecting that cable, the player is NOT on hold.
Thanks for any replies!
[Saint]:
Its not normal, no.
But I'm not sure what your basis for comparison is against the newer model iPods, as on the newer model iPods (everything from the 4G, Color/Photo onwards) that cable jack doesn't even exist.

SukkoPera:
Well, I'm talking about the flex cable that connects the headphone jack and hold switch. It's much simpler (in the 4g it goes to a whole board, in 5g+ it goes straight to the jack/switch) in newer models, but it still exists.
[Saint]:
My mistake.
I thought you were talking about the dedicated (external) remote socket that a few of the older generation iPods shared.
In that case, yes, yes it is normal.

Oh, great! Thanks a lot ;).
