Sansa Clip Zip - On Occasion, ATA Error -1 At Boot
bbildman:
On some occasions, when powering up, the Zip stalls and above the Rockbox logo there is a ATA Error -1, then after a few seconds it turns off. Powering on again, it seems to work ok, until the next boot.
Sometimes also, the ZIP just stalls, and I have to hold the power key down for 20 seconds or so, then it turns off.
Any help here is appreciated. Using Rockbox 3.13
Astrogoth:
I assume you've reinserted your MSD card and that it's not corrupt or busted.
The obvious answer is to update Rockbox to the latest dev build. The less obvious answer is to increase the file browser limit to more than you have. The least obvious answer is to turn off Auto Update and reboot.
If none of these work you can start over with a clean install. If THAT doesn't work junk it.
bbildman:
Hi, I appreciate your input.
I DO have one question though, in the past I have tried to use the latest development build for the Zip, but for one problem, I would stay with it.
When I connect the Zip to my USB port (Windows 7 64 bit), the laptop does not load the ZIp normally. I says it detects a 6 drive addition, but the ZIP is never available from the computer. Using 3.13, all is well

If you have any ideas that will enable me to use the dev build without this connection problem, I would appreciate it.

Oh that's an easy one: After you install the latest dev build turn OFF the database Auto Update feature. For some reason it doesn't play nice with USB functions.

Never used the database function for anything anyway, and certainly not the auto-update. Thanks
