Rockbox DAP with an external headphone amp: best settings?
(1/1)
johnb:
Hi,
I recently bought a Toppings NX1 to drive my Senn HD600 or DT770 together with one of my Sandisk Sansas.
Using headphone out as input into the external amp, what would be the settings to
* avoid clipping on the player
* utilize max dynamic range while avoiding additional noise
What I currently use is
* album gain, all songs having RG values
* No clip: yes
* crossfeed: meier
* volume: 0
* no other active EQ or sound setting
Is this the optimum setting? Any other suggestions?

The only thing an amp is really going to do for you here is increase the volume, so I'd set the player to 0dB volume. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter. Use an EQ if you feel you need it.
