Sandisk "Sansa Fuze" (new one) for sale
« on: January 10, 2015, 06:28:33 PM »
Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum.

First of all, let me say that, although I haven't yet installed this firmware in an MP4 player, I'm already a huge fan of this Free Firmware. :)

From the videos I've seen on the Internet... Me being a huge Free Software enthusiast, and also a huge music lover, I think that this is one of the best practical examples of how beautifully the Free Software ideology can be applied, and how great the results of that same philosophy can be. :)

Congratulations to everyone involved in this project!

The reason I come here, is to propose something that I hope that it can be a contribution/favour back to this particular Free Software community...

That is, to ask if there's anyone here interested in having one of the (that I now hear that are being sold, in second hand, like "gold" - and for which the demand has increased very much, ever since they stopped being sold in regular stores) much talked about "Sansa Fuze" models.

My situation is that:

I have bought, 2 years ago, one of the last (available on the market) items of this "Sansa Fuze" model ("Fuze" only, and the one that is 100% supported by Rockbox) so that I could try it out with Rockbox installed. But, having already a good audio card in my computer, not having had time to try out this MP4 player ever since, and now planning on moving abroad... I now want to sell this and other things of value, that I can't take with me. And, since that I know that this particular model is one thing for which there is a great demand, and for which I suppose the demand is even higher among enthusiasts of Rockbox, I thought that it would be a good idea (and a nice way to thank this community, in advance) to come here first to try to sell it to someone who's a volunteer of this project, before I try to sell it on eBay - since that, I expect the value of this particular item, on the latter website, to be high, and want to give the opportunity to a volunteer of this Free Software project to buy such item at a lower price than expected on such website.

And, so - if the people here allow me to make such a post - what I would like to do, is to ask here if any volunteer of this project is interested in buying one of this particular items. Which, being sold here, I would sell at only the price that it cost me, with a 10% discount to the volunteer who would buy it - with that percentage counting as a donation to the project, on my part.

The item that I have, is brand new. And, it has been turned on, for the first time, only before I made this post, to make sure that it works.

(And, I can say, already, that the price that it cost me, was the euros equivalent of almost £108, at the time - including the corresponding case and screen protector, that I've also ordered for it.)

I would present digital proofs of the price that it cost me, reveal my identity, and present other personal data about myself, to the person who would buy it to me - so that I could assure such a person that I'm an honest one, before any money transaction would be made. (I don't usually use videoconferencing, but that can also be arranged, if needed.)

Also, if there's more than one person here interested in this item, I would sell it to the person who has volunteered the most to the project - with preference to a person among the volunteers who do the work that no one else wants to - translations, writing manuals, and such.

(That's the position that I usually find myself in, when doing volunteer work - so, that's the reason for my particular solidarity with such volunteers...) :)

I would wait a full week, before starting selling it, so that people who may only access the Internet on weekends (like I did, years ago, when my MP3 player was a great companion) can also read this message in time.

And, I think that's all that I have to say, for now...

Also, if anyone's interested... I have too a rarely used 6th generation 80 GB iPod, that I can sell here under the same conditions.

In the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions you want.

OK. So, there doesn't seem to be as much interest in this particular model as I thought.

And, having I had time to think about all of this better, this may end up being a good result for me. Since that, I might be able to raise enough money for my "escape" by selling all the rest of the things of value that I have.

Therefore, I will leave this particular "Sansa Fuze" device for last, and will only sell it if I really have to. (And, if I end up doing so, I will leave here the link to my auction on eBay - also for those who may not have read the initial message in time.)

Take care, you all.
