connecting 18350 to a sansa clip zip?
(1/1)
ismaeelsafdar:
Hi, new to forum, no idea which section to post in so apologize if im in the wrong place. Anyways, my clip zip even with rockbox has a dreadful battery life and is only 2 months old, i want to connect a protected 18350 holder directly to the board and bring the wires out and stick the holder to the back. I will just remove the battery to charge it. Is this possible? When i opened the player i noticed 3 wires connected to the board, i understand one is a thermal detector or something, i plan not to take the board off the stock lithium polymer battery as its a lot of hastle. Thanks in advance for your help ;)

Yes, you should disconnect original battery and connect only two wire. You can charge it like original though usb. Rockbox charge battery with 140mA, but you can patch it and get up to 460mA.
EDIT:
You also should connect 100k resistor between ground and thermal wire: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,50272.0.html
Or patch rockbox and disable battery temp.
