Hello,
In Ubuntu 14.04 MTP devices are mounted not using the normal mount to /media.
They are mounted to an MTP device accessible only by nautilus.
This is a problem since Rockbox utility can't find the mount point so it can't install the device.
After I could not find a way to mount my Sansa Clip+ properly, I managed to do a workaround so I could install Rockbox.
This workaround worked for me but it may not work for everyone.
Any way, I think this is useful enough to post, hope someone could make it to good use
- Create a new blank folder on your computer to "install" Rockbox to.
- In Rockbox Utility, configure your device manually to the mount point is your newly created folder
- Install Rockbox, Including boot loader
- Connect your Sansa to your computer
- Copy the files from the install folder (the one created in stage 1) to you Sansa root folder
- Disconnect and reboot your device. This will result in boot failure, telling you to connect to USB
- Connect your device to your computer. The device will be mounted to /media as it used to be in ubuntu 12.04
- Reinstall Rockbox, including boot loader, this time to you device
- Disconnect and reboot your device
- Write a bug report to Ubuntu, telling them to make it possible to mount MTP devices normally
Hope this helps someone, for me it did the trick.
Peace and love,
Raz
