Another problem!
« on: June 23, 2006, 11:26:23 PM »
Ok I'm gonna have to bug you guys again. I followed all the steps on the install page and my iPod is just the same. I reboot and nothing seems to be different. I got the blue rockbox screen with the error message once but then it was gone. Here's how I installed it:

1) downloaded rockbox bootloader and apple firmware, and merged them together

2) Installed rockbox-enabled firmware

3) Installed firmware and extracted files to root folder of E:\ Drive (Where I connvected my iPod

4) Scratched head in confusion

Did I miss anything? If so, how do I restart the whole process?

[snip] how do I restart the whole process?
To restart the whole process, just update your ipod with the ipodupdater program.  It will wipe it clean, and you'll be good to go.  If you're having problems with the manual install, try this installer (version 7.7):

I've used it on my Nano, and my friend's Nano.  It works great.

Ok here's the deal. I downloaded the automatic install, but when I open the .bat file it just appears to be a flash of a command prompt window.

I tried 7.7 and 7.6 and my nano is in disk mode.

Well the so-called automatic install is made by other people than us, so you'll have to ask them about it. You probably shouldn't run it more than once, as I doubt it has checks to prevent it from layering the bootloader multiple times.

What do you by a flash?  With the auto installer, a "wizard"-type interface will be present with a command prompt window in the background.

there will be a few popups that say the drive isnt found or something like that and just click ok to all of them and then the installer window will open.
