Greetings all. I put a couple of notes up in different places regarding problems using Micro sd / ssd with Tosh F10 and IAudiox5.
I kept reporting what I thought was a good result but several hours later both machines would crash or develop problems.
Things I encountered included:
Machine freezing mid track
Track skipping
Track Jumping
Track sticking like bad cd.... then crashing
Machines not finding HD
Tracks esp Flac not transferring or Transferring and not playing
Tracks vanishing
Machines switching off in play
Machines not rebooting after switchoff
Very slow upload speeds
Had some advice from Saratoga on changing components to find better combinations and this helped to some extent minimising the catalogue of problems but long term some issues came back.
During this nightmare I tried several formatters with varying results but recently I found "SmartDisk Fat 32 tool"
It works at a very slow speed in comparison to others, it works every time unlike the others and curiously it identifies a 128 Micro SD as 130! However the usable space is still 124.
My experience is every single problem listed above has gone!! Futhermore transfer / upload speeds are the fastest yet by a huge margin.50/ 60% faster!!
Also it looks as though the ssd is working less hard (led not flashing so much) and batt life looking significantly enhanced.
I am a newcomer to all this, and not a programmer, and hope that if you are too you can try this formatter and save hours of time and frustration.
It did look as though I might have to go back to HD as I was faced with losing files I wanted to keep but so far this is fantastic.
I have reported progress before and then something went wrong but so far on 2 different machines with any hardware combinations there are no problems.
I hope this helps someone else and that if you don't know about SmartDisk Fat 32 you will try it
Best to all for 2015 - my first full Rockbox year!
