VBR for flac? Non playing files on Microsd

Help! I'm going crazy trying to understand why some flacs don't play on ssd on Toshiba F10 and IAudio x5
I got help / advice from Saratoga on the Hardware and I think I have that fixed but now I'm into a new problem!

I'm using micro SD/Cf convertor adapter card to replace 44/50 pin Toshiba Hard drive. Some flacs load and play some don't. The ones that play read  "VBRnumber/kbits/flac"   on the screen
The ones that don't flash "root" in top part of screen and underneath ?Kbits. after flashing screen goes back to playlist/tracklist

All mp3's play no problem

This is all new to me but it looks as though flacs uploaded to bittorrent sites like Dime are either tagged VBR or not... the "not" ones transfer to ssd but won't play.
They do however play from ssd thru pc - so they are on the SSD.

I'm looking for an idiots guide to tagging the non VBR tags to make them VBR so the ssd recognises them.
I think this is what I need......if not please correct me..I got this idea from reading about Sanza clip problems and I think this is a similiar issue.

I have downloded numerous progs trying to find something that allows me to add a VBR tag but can't find a solution. My idea is that I have to reprocess the files that don't transfer.

My last discovery is audioshell - looks promising but I still can't change anything!!

I'm sure this is a simple issue but its beyond me as a beginner! Oh and I'm no computer programmer so I do need an idiots guide.

All flac files are vbr.

From what you said in the other thread, that ssd is not reliable and corrupts files. Probably the flac files that do not play were corrupted,  either during copy over or during read at playback time.

Hi Saratoga - well that makes sense. Thank you. I am working with the same files thinking when I have them transferred I am fixed!! All of the flaky mp3 have transferred and I was hoping for same result with the flacs! Boy I am barking up the wrong tree!

Well couldn't have sorted that without you so thanks. You just saved me hours of frustration...at least I can become frustrated with something new now!!
I think things are as good as they are going to be. Until I find flawless components.

Can I reprocess corrupted files? how? What with?

I'm hoping now the Hardware is kind of sorted via method described in other thread there will be no more corruptions...I always think everything can be fixed if you know how to do it but are there issues with ssd we just can't sort out??

At least I have established ssd works with Tosh and x5 using microsd. I will go back to the x5 over xmas, rebuild it using the Tosh procedure to compare performance.
Using the same files earlier I noticed some behaved well on one machine but not the other. The Tosh was the more difficult of the two but given the fantastic transfer speed the x5 might be underperformng and there is greater potential there. I would say the x5 has the better amplifier but the Tosh operation is better.

Oh one last thing, actually two
................ is it possible to reduce the height of the bottom bar  in Cabbie ?- lock, play, batt etc on the Tosh. With a larger font size the bottom of letters / digits are partially covered.
................ Do you think with a full size cf card the quirks might go away? As a newcomer I went with Micro sd because of cost and fact that I could use the cards with other products if all this failed. I am so impressed with the results though. The micro sd is now faster than hard drive 

Next challenge is 256gb!

Boy am I both pleased and confused!
I just transferred every "corrupted" Folder that would not go ont the Toshiba to the x5 at lightning speed with 100% sucess.
Not as fast as an mp3 transfer but much faster than HD
This is wonderful!
Now does this mean there is something in the x5 Rockbox files that could be transferred / reworked to make the Tosh behave properly?
