If I recall correctly, the X5 has a software mp3 decoder. Does that mean it's possible in theory to play multiple mp3s simultaneously, just like you can run multiple instances of winamp on a pc to listen to audiobooks while shuffling music?
Is there any chance rockbox firmware would ever implement this as a feature for the X5 (assuming the CPU of the X5 is powerful enough because it plays videos as well as music)?

It is theoretically possible (for example, that's how the VoiceUI works) but would technically require the codec to be loaded twice. The way Rockbox's architecture is set up, this isn't really possible at the moment, but could be implemented by someone rather dedicated to working around a few things.
