What was your first rockbox device

With RB, I liked it a lot and would still be using it if it hadn't died. I'm now using an iPod Video 5.5g w/80GB drive that I picked up off ebay some years back. I suppose it works ok. I don't use it much anymore.

Almost the same for me !
Archos JBR 20 ! The original HDD died, I upgraded with a 80 GB which also died.
Later (no Rockbox support) : Archos Gmini 500 with a 80 GB HDD.
More recently : Sansa Clip + 8 GB (+ 64 GB mSD), Rockboxed of course !
And since, I bought two used JBR 20. One is in pristine condition, the second has a 32 GB Compact Flash card instead of the HDD !

Sandisk Fuze+. Sandisk's firmware can only be described as garbage (10 second lag between button press and action, rebuilding the database on every boot, freezing randomly every 8 to 200 tracks, etc.) and I was desperate to get it to work properly when I saw a mention of Rockbox in Amazon's customer comments for the Fuze+. It does work better (reacts immediately to inputs, builds the database once and SAVES IT) but it still freezes constantly and predictably (don't address the issue here, the's a thread for it in the playback troubleshooting section, I think it may be a hardware problem).
I bought a Clip+ to replace the Fuze+ and immediately Rockboxed it and joy of joys it works 99% perfectly! No freezing (except for a recent database issue), every theme works (I LOVE the LCARS theme from Star Trek, it just looks right!). It played over 2000 tracks over a span of a year on random with no freezes or playback defects. Just asked for a Clip Zip for my birthday because I miss my album art and can't take the Fuze+ freezing while I'm driving.

My 5th gen ssd-using ipod. Which just got stolen *sob*.
(I am _so_ hoping it quickly does the sad-face corrupted disk thing that it occasionally does, as I really doubt the person who nicked it will know how to get it going again, involving as it does sata bays and master-boot-records).

My first was an Iriver H140. Then came a slew of H320's and H340s. I installed a 120g drive in one, back when that modification was tricky and rare. The "new" Rockbox Utility is very slick and makes installation a breeze!
With my Irivers still running beautifully (including the H140) I haven't visited the forums in some time. Last week I returned to read the manual for an Ipod 5.5 video installation. That went very smoothly, so I also 'rockboxed' two Sansa E200's I had lying around. Next will be a Sansa Clip I just received from Amazon.
So, once again, "HURRAH and APPLAUSE for the Rockbox team!!" Rockbox is a brilliant application that I've enjoyed for years. It has made my life easier and also advanced my understanding of computer technology. For both those gifts, I am sincerely grateful!

My first device was an Archos Jukebox 6000. I used some very early Rockbox versions because even then they had features which made them better than the original firmware. I remember one time running out of battery power because there was still no auto shutdown. Fortunately I had a second set of batteries with me.
I had downloaded the firmware descrambler when I learned about it, and disassembled and examined the OF. However, I didn't go further than that at the time. At the time I had done some x86 reverse engineering but never SH and never on a program which I couldn't run in a debugger. I wish I had gotten involved in Rockbox back then.
My next MP3 player was an Archos Gmini 220. The original firmware there had a decent interface, though it occasionally corrupted audio and the remote kept locking up. I was aware of the attempted Rockbox port, but not very interested. I only got involved in Rockbox later, starting with the Archos V2 Recorder.
