iPod video 5 keep rebooting
latreche34:
Update:
While on disc mode I loaded rockbox and was able to start it and displays USB cable LOGO the battery jumped up from 60% to 100% within few seconds I left it charging for few more minutes and disconnected USB cable, The ipod rebooted and rockbox started at the menu showed battery logo empty and shuts down, plugged usb again rockbox loaded menu in USB mode and showed battery at 60% and bar moved up quickly to 100% within few seconds, disconnected USB again reboots and so on the same cycle. Plugged up the USB to an external charger to get rid of the USB logo, rockbox started but going to any of the menu items and click on it iPod shuts down. That was a quick destruction of the ipod the good news is I only paid $60 for it, I will just get an android player I guess to be able to play my FLAC library and that was the raison for trying to install rockbox on the iPod.

Like wodz said above, it sounds like a worn out battery.

The battery worked just fine before installing rockbox and even after installing it showed 100% on rockbox menu in few occasions only when I select a menu item the ipod shuts down, it's a no brainer a bug got introduced to the ipod battery management software, no need to stick up for the software we all know it's a "use at your own risk" policy, it is my fault using it and I'm not blaming anybody. I could spend twenty bucks and get a new battery to prove it, but I just don't have any more patience to go any further, I will use that $20 towards a FLAC portable media player. Thank you all for the help.

That sounds exactly like a worn out battery, but if its actually a bug, you can just reboot into the Apple firmware and charge there.
