My H140 has no output or crackling high volume sound.
« on: November 06, 2014, 05:21:34 PM »
Hi all!

My H140 has gone.

It still records fine but last week during playback it started give off a loud crackling sound sometimes when I touched the joystick.

I opened it up and sprayed the joystick with electronic cleaner.

After that it had no problems for a couple of hours. After those hours of functionality it started to make the crackling sound alternated with no sound at all or good sound. Now a couple of days later it has no sound at all during playback.

I sprayed a lot of components when aiming for the joystick with the electronic cleaning spray (Brand of the spray is CRC).

Does anyone have an Idea of what could be wrong and perhaps a solution to it?

/Johannes

That sounds like traces cracked somewhere on PCB.

I was thinking that the joystick might be oxidized. But I don't know if it effects the sound in some way or it  is just navigation. I feel it is a little bit unresponsive.

When I opened there were nothing I noticed out of the ordinary. But I didn't specifically look for something like that.
I will open it again and look but for now:
Is it possible that the pcb is cracked even if it isn't looking like cracked?
If yes how can I identify the crack?
Is it a double layer pcb or is it more layers?
