Digital + Static Noise on playback

Hi,
I've copied a couple of folders containing flac files from my pc to my H340 & am getting various static & digital noises on playback. Have tried deleting & re-copying a few times but the problem still occurs. I've run a defrag & scandisk on the iRiver HDD & no probs but was wondering why this is happening. It's almost like the copy from pc to iRiver isn't 'clean'. Anyone able to offer suggestions as to why this is happening?
